East End Ink

So I know tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo and some people celebrate pretty hard, but if you can stumble your way over to this show, it will definitely be worth checking out.

Black Lagoon Gallery is hosting a show entirely dedicated to bicycles ! AKA the best theme show ever (besides cats on bicycles). There will be some really great artists featured in the show including Jared, woo !! I would show you his print but then again, you should really just seeeee it in personnn. And all the other awesome prints in the show.

starts at 6pm – ends at 9pm

Tonight is going to be a really special night.

I get to go see Mumfords & Sons performing at the Moody Theater ! They quickly became one of my favorite bands from the first moments of hearing their raw and infectious melodies, singing words that I wish I had expressed first so I could claim them as my own. Alas ! My favorite song, White Blank Pages, is in the video above – a song that I became very attached to & spent many days biking around Austin with it as my soundtrack. I have my fellow East End Ink artist, Jared, to thank for letting me tag along (I played Sigh No More on repeat for days in the office) – he was commissioned to create the show poster ! I think he did a great job capturing the magic & majesty that is Mumford and Sons.. you can get a screen printed version of this at the show tonight !

It’s a bittersweet day here at East End Ink. Veteran eei artist Kevin Munoz, who has been my mentor since joining the team, is venturing off to explore all the world has to offer. He has been a huge part of EEI’s livelihood and we are sad to see him go. Kevin, thanks for everything you’ve done here and we wish you the best of luck with all your future endeavors. We know that you will succeed in whatever you set your mind to ! Stay goofy.

Bittersweet indeed, sweet like mexican chocolate. I am thrilled to announce my newest partner in art department crime.. Jared Connor. With an extensive background in commercial art and screenprinting, Jared started his own design studio in 2000 where he created art for the likes of the mars volta, mono, russian circles, danzig and the foo fighters. He is a wicked designer and we can’t wait to see all that he brings to eei.

I don’t fish… but if I did… I would be obsessed with this shirt.
